Team Stats & Notes
- Niece Motorsports Nashville Stats: Niece drivers have made a combined 13 starts at Nashville Superspeedway. The organization conquered the concrete with Carson Hocevar winning in 2023. In total, the team has earned three top-fives and four top-10 finishes on the unique 1.33-mile layout. Last year, Matt Mills was the highest-finishing team driver in eighth-place.
- On the Rise: Last week's race had Niece Motorsports' potential on full display in Charlotte. With Ross Chastain coming home runner-up, Kaden Honeycutt in a career-best third, and Matt Mills in seventh-place, the event marked the first time ever in which three of the team trucks finished inside the top-10.
No. 42 J.F. Electric / Utilitra Chevrolet Silverado RST
Driver: Matt Mills | Crew Chief: Mike Shiplett
- Mills' Nashville Stats: Matt Mills made his first NCTS start at Nashville last year, where he drove his No. 42 Chevy to an eighth-place finish. Mills also competed in one NASCAR Xfinity Series (NXS) event at this track in 2021.
- Shiplett's Nashville Stats: Mike Shiplett's lone NCTS race held at Nashville resulted in a disappointing 36th-place finish last year after Bret Holmes crashed out of the event early. Shiplett served as crew chief for two NXS races here back in 2007, finishing as high as 22nd with Chase Miller.
- On the Truck: Mills’ No. 42 Chevrolet Silverado RST will race with support from longtime partners J.F. Electric and Utilitra, who will serve as his anchor partners for the entire 25-race season.
- Recapping Charlotte: Matt Mills and the No. 42 team overcame mid-race adversity to capture their first top-10 finish of the season at Charlotte. Starting 16th, Mills earned an extra point in stage one by finishing in 10th. On the first pit stop of the night, however, the team was dealt a costly uncontrolled tire penalty which resulted in a significant loss of track position. Mills and team rallied back valiantly, resulting in an impressive comeback seventh-place result.
- Points Rundown: Mills gained two positions in the points standings after picking up his best finish of the year in Charlotte. Heading into Nashville for the tour's 12th race on the calendar, Mills is shown in 16th-place. The driver is 22 points behind Matt Crafton in 15th, and has a one-point cushion over Jack Wood in 17th. As of now, Mills is 75 points outside of the Playoffs cutline.
- Quoting Mills: You got a top-10 last week and got another one here last year; what do you have to do to keep the momentum rolling?
“Nashville was a really good racetrack for us so I really just trust what we had here last year. I know Mike (Shiplett) will make good adjustments going into the weekend. Another top-10 finish would be good for us; I think looking at the way we showed speed last week we need to strive for even more. I think Nashville will be good for us on the J.F. Electric team.”
